Individual Rations are used to sustain individuals during worldwide operations that do not allow for organized food service facilities. Several types of individual meal rations exist to meet the needs of military personnel and displaced persons living under emergency conditions.

        MREs are used to sustain individuals during operations that preclude organized food service facilities, but where resupply is established or planned. Each ration contains an entrée/starch, crackers, spread, dessert/snack, beverages, accessory pack, plastic spoon and Flameless Ration Heater (FRH). Each MRE ration provides an average of 1300 kilocalories. 

          A single case can provide nutritional variety, critical in crisis situations where appetite may be suppressed by stress or emotional trauma. The entrée is ready in just 10 minutes by using the self-heating unit.
